I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions but I do them anyways because I like to make lists and I tend to get obsessive about the making of lists. Making resolutions allows me to further categorize them into their own separate lists that need to be further categorized and colour coded into more lists and the whole process is a never ending series of lists and colours. I could write a whole post on that but I won't, so you're welcome for that. Anyways, I don’t believe in New Years resolutions because I won’t achieve what I want in just a year. This is because I am lazy and most of the stuff I want takes a lot of effort. Instead, like many, I just work on forming small habits of change that can stay with me for the rest of my life probably.

I do, however, believe in Nerd-Years resolutions. I believe we can all strive to be better nerds and those require little work on my end because I am already a huge nerd. I have already succeeded in some capacity.

So here are my goals for becoming a better, nerdier me:

  1. Continue being more honest about what it means to love nerdy popular culture as a plus size woman. Hint: I do not always feel welcome or included in the things I love.

  2. Bring awareness to the awesome female comic characters out there. Some representation is out there and if people don’t know where to begin I want to help them figure it out.

  3. Seek out more material that focuses on the stories from persons of colour and the LGBTQA+ community.

  4. Broaden my areas of nerd-spertise. You will have to check back to see how I will accomplish this.

  5. Overall, be more inclusive with my topics.

I firmly believe that I can be a better nerd, I can learn more and help others to learn more, I can help the community to be more inclusive, and I can stand firmly in the face of those who do not welcome me into that same community. Happy New Years and may it be as nerdy as ever!

Hello!

I am Kaleigh, the wonder woman behind the blog. I originally started this blog because I felt there was a need for more female plus size voices in the geek community. While that need still exists, I have also decided to incorporate other topics into the site.

I love reading, bullet journaling, playing my guitar and cats. If I could make one person laugh, feel more confident, or get inspired through this blog then I will have done my job. I hope you enjoy reading these articles as much as I enjoyed writing them.
